ALVARO MARIONI

Biography

Alvaro Marioni (1911-1999) was born in Fauglia, a small town in the middle of the green hills close to Pisa and among farmhouses and old villas, destination of the greatest masters of the 1900 such as Fattori, Lega, Banti, Signorini and Gioli.

The passion for paintings grew up in him when he was young, while he was frequenting villa Gioli. While masters Luigi and Francesco were painting, Alvaro used to watch and learn how to spread the colors of the post Macchiaiolo influence Tuscan landscapes.

A pure artist, Alvaro shows a bent for music, carving and furniture manufacturing, besides for paintings.

At the end of world war II in 1948, Alvaro starts the business of furniture building and later on turns it into a permanent exhibition of new and antique valuable furniture.

During the Sixties, Alvaro leaves the business to his sons and totally devotes himself to paintings.

Critic

“Far from being naïve and doubtful of the ways and the usual procedure of an Art not bound to tradition, Marioni works hard for a work that, thanks to the constant practice, he succeeds in qualifying by virtue of the esteem he achieves from he himself”. (Alfonso Gatto)
